Amber Glass Collectibles

Amber glass collectibles are some of the most beautiful of glass collectibles available. The range of color from the palest yellow to the deepest amber or brown provides a wide range of possibilities in collecting, and the collection that includes them all can be arranged to emphasize that variation in color. In addition, amber glass is the perfect choice of glass collectible to warm the rooms in which it is displayed. Blue and green glass collectibles are beautiful, but cool the environment around them. The reds and pinks are also beautiful, but the red is usually a trifle forceful, even garish. The yellow tones spread warmth as they reflect and transmit the light that falls on the amber glass.

Vintage amber glass can be as mundane as amber cookware to the fancy amber glass pieces made by Fostoria Glass and other glass manufacturers. Collectors of industrial types of glass can find amber telephone insulators and bottles large and small. Amber depression glass is a pale yellow and a wonderful contrast to the darker yellows of glass candle holders and lanterns. Handmade blown glass objects can be found that include amber or yellow accents, and will provide a few touches of other colors to your collection. Once you have amber glass bowls and vases, amber glass marbles can be used in them to anchor flowers or just to enhance the look of the main amber glass pieces.

Once you have the main items in amber glass, you can look for amber sea glass. This comes in actual sea glass or man-made (tumbled) and can be found in craft stores or online. This glass can also be placed in glass bowls or vases to display them. You may also find amber sea glass made into jewelry, and thus can wear part of your amber glass collection when you so desire. After friends and family find out about your collection, you will soon have amber perfume bottles on your dresser, amber picture frames for family photos and beaded bracelets that incorporate amber beads.

There are many pieces of Murano glass that are made from or include yellow or amber in them. The Murano glass artists make amber birds and fish, and their Chinese imitators no doubt do so as well. Amber glass fruits like bananas, mangoes and apples, and glass vegetables like yellow bell peppers and summer squash may soon adorn your kitchen table or counter.

Once you start looking for it, many pieces of amber glass will catch your attention. A collection in amber is likely to be quite varied as glass collections go, if you decide not to limit your collection to the decorative and collect useful objects as well. Old medicine bottles and current small vials for liquids that deteriorate in light could be part of an amber glass collection. Let your imagination loose and do not decide the bounds of your amber glass collection until after you have collected for a while. Then, if the industrial or useful objects are not to your taste, you can sell them and use the money to buy the more decorative amber glass you prefer.

Amber glass collectibles run the full gamut of glass uses, and as such can be an informative collection about all the things now or previously made from glass, that most versatile of substances.
